Do I have to Exercise to lose weight?

Woman on benchDo I really have to exercise to lose weight?

The answer is no.  Absolutely not!  By cutting back on your calorie intake you can lose a lot of weight without doing any exercise at all.  But… Here comes the tough love… You will positively have to exercise in order to keep the weight off.  If you are ready to drastically increase your physical activity then losing weight is pointless.  There will be no long term benefits.  Exercise is very important.

How much exercise should I be doing?

The recommendation is to set a goal of working out 60 to 90 minutes a day.  Studies have shown that people who keep weight off on average exercise between 60 to 90 minutes per day.  Some might say that working out for an hour a day is horrible but when you look at the benefits of working out this much, they by far outweigh the stress of working out for an hour or so.

On the positive side of things, this exercise doesn’t have to be done all at once.  It can be spread throughout an entire day.  Many people still have set routines such as a jog in the morning or a walk after work.  Nonetheless, they spend the same amount of time working out usually.

Being physically active will never become easy.  Even people who have been working out for years will say that it’s difficult to push everyday and that they have to force themselves.  But, to keep the weight off you must make a commitment and push yourself every day.

How many calories should I be eating?

Eating between 1200 and 1400 calories a day will help to lose weight.  Eating this many calories will be very good for losing weight.  But, eating low calories won’t keep you going for long.  Eventually your body will need more calories.

There is also the idea that you could eat as many calories as you want.  This is fine as long as you increase your exercise to compensate for the increased caloric intake.  The more you eat, the more you will have to exercise.

January was the first time ever I’d completed anything like this. The book is easy to read and follow — no gimmicks, straight talk and facts. Do your own research — you’ll see that everything noted in the book is accurate. As for me, the only thing I see that would prevent someone from not succeeding with this program is not following the directions EXACTLY as written. This book was a huge eye opener to me in answering my questions about feeling sluggish, weighted down with lack of overall energy or vitality. I highly recommend this book to those who want to feel good physically and mentally — I plan to do another cleanse in the fall. Good luck to you!
